50 Years of F1 Lineups — One Interactive Map for F1 Drivers & Teams

F1 drivers are at the centre of this page: an interactive Formula 1 driver career timeline and team lineage map for fans and researchers. Every coloured node is a driver in a season; curves show moves between teams, constructors, and eras. Use it to answer questions like “Where did this driver race before?” or “Which line does today’s team follow back through history?” New here? Jump to how to read the timeline below.

Hover any driver to trace their career across teams. See how legends such as Senna, Schumacher, Hamilton, and Verstappen threaded through the grid — and how lineage (not just the current team name) connects today’s outfits to their past. The chart runs from 1979 toward the present so you can explore grid history, driver transfers, and team identity in one place.

About this project

F1 Drivers (this site) is a fan-made visualization built from public lineup and team data. It is meant for exploration and learning, not for betting or official statistics. Team lineages group constructors that share continuity (for example through buyouts or rebrands) so you can follow a thread of identity across decades.

Whether you are comparing driver career paths, researching who drove for which team in a given year, or just curious how the grid evolved since the late 1970s, the interactive map on this page is the main view. We improve the experience over time; if something looks wrong, please tell us via the contact form.

By using this site you agree to our privacy policy, which describes Google Analytics, AdSense, and your choices.

Editorial, ownership & trust

F1 Drivers (f1drivers.net) is an independent, non-official project. It is edited and published by Roberto Forni as a fan resource for exploring how F1 drivers moved between teams and how team identities connect over time. This site is not affiliated with Formula 1, the FIA, or any team.

For corrections, data feedback, or licensing questions, use the contact page or email roger4ni@gmail.com. We aim to keep lineup and lineage data accurate but errors can occur — please tell us if you spot one. Transparency: we use Google Analytics and AdSense as described in our privacy policy; you can opt out of personalised ads via Google’s tools.

Trust signals: clear privacy policy, public contact, visible robots.txt for crawlers, and an XML sitemap listing main URLs. The interactive chart is built with open web standards (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, D3) and loads data from files we maintain in the project.
